front jointed dollI really love Bernadette Jiwa’s posts. Mostly, there are really simple, but strong reminders of how to pay attention to what the customer wants and needs. This post is a really good one, a quick check to determine whether each action is for your customers or only for you.

As a reaction to that reminder, I thought I’d share a tool that I used when beginning to understand how to draw stick figures that convey emotion and action. You have to print this out, cut out the parts, then use your hole punch to punch out the tiny black dots. Finally connect all the pieces together (as they are in a human body) using brads. Once you have assembled your 2D doll, make it tell you something. I like to start with despair. See what that looks like.
