I’ve been working on a series of ambiguous story telling cards to be used in group settings from 2 to 10. There are currently 54 3.75″ x 5.25″ cards in the deck. They can be used for many purposes but they were designed first for fun.
Here’s one titled “Are you going to eat that?”
You begin the story by going around in the story circle, each person choosing a starting line and telling the group. The first volunteer to choose a starting line, then turns up a card from the deck and continues the story. The card can be used as the next action or the final action in that person’s story contribution. Once he or she has completed the contribution, the story passes to the person on the left who continues the story.
Stories move because of conflict, so as a player you may want to leave a moment of conflict at the end of your session, as a hook for the next person.
There is no winning to this game; this is a game to produce a product. The story ends when the group agrees that the story ends.
Here’s the opening line I would offer.
Four years ago, Melina and Norelia lived on a rooftop in the old city.
What do you think? This is a work in progress.
